Jetsetter Report: McCarran International Airport (LAS)

McCarran International Airport (Las Vegas, NV)

Built and established in 1942 as Alamo Airport this exact site is now renamed and occupied by the current day McCarran Airport(named after Nevada  ex-senator Pat McCarran).  If your flying into Las Vegas, better known as Sin City, and or the greater Clark county, this is your only commercial landing pad.

Terminal Map
The airport had two commercial/public terminals in service but as of mid June 2012 a third terminal opened up replacing the old terminal 2.. And the new terminal dedicate most of its gates to international flights and a few to domestic/regional airlines.

For those that have airline club privileges...head to Gates D, it has LAS's only passenger club (United President Club)

My Business there: I had to book a last minute flight out of San Diego(SAN) back to the SF Bay Area. Unfortunately, the fare to fly directly from SAN to any bay area airport was a bit more than what I'm willing to pay for.  After a thorough search via trusty Kayak I found a flight through Spirit airline.  A very good deal indeed and I get to try out Spirit airline for the very first time.

Insider Tip: Bored? Flight delayed? Your in Vegas there's no reason you should be siting around wasting time. Check out the Aviation Museum if your traveling with kids. So what your stuck at the airport you're still in Vegas, so spend a few minutes  at one of their slot machines located throughout the airport.

For folks flying in, taxi service is certainly a must to get to your next location. Here's a list of tips you should read and understand before hopping into a cab.

Fun Fact: Many huge Hollywood blockbusters used McCarran airport as their backdrop...can you name any?
Rush Hour 2, 2012, James Bond(Diamonds Are Forever)  just to name a few.
